Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
