Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
